What is happiness?
Happiness is different for each person. If you asked three people what made them happy, I am sure every persons answer would differ in some way.
That is why relationships are difficult. One persons happiness is different than another and trying to meet expectations of another’s happiness is difficult when you aren’t even meeting your own.
So if you were to answer “what is happiness” I am sure you would say something like….vacations, money, my husband/boyfriend, trips to the beach, ice cream, a good glass of wine, good food, sex, etc.
But that is not true happiness, those are things that provide us temporary happiness but is not ever lasting or sustainable. Once the vacation is over, the glass of wine is gone and that pizza has been consumed…you are left with what? wanting something else to make you “happy.”
This is called pleasure seeking behavior.
True happiness comes from just “being”. When you can be happy alone, sitting with yourself, doing not much of anything and feel at peace then you have found…happiness.
