What brings you happiness..

I have decided to post short daily blogs each morning that focuses on happiness and the magic of life!

With so much negative information being reported daily our minds are naturally focused on what’s happening in our country and we are spending countless hours reading and listening to panic inducing stories, statistics and opinions. It can not only be mind numbing but it also creates fear.

Fear sets off our internal fight or flight response and increases the hormone cortisol which causes increased anxiety, insomnia and many other issues including fatigue and weight gain.

Although it’s impossible for us to get away from the media and it would be crazy for me to suggest you stick your head in the sand and pretend this isn’t happening, I mean, knowledge is also power, I would like to help balance things a bit.

So I am encouraging you all, to at least once a day focus on what brings you happiness. You can focus on it for 10 minutes, an hour or half the day. The duration is up to you.

In my world, and from my experience happiness and “magic” can show up in many forms. It can be a walk in your neighborhood with or without a friend (please stay 6 feet apart); a binge fest on Netflix; something creative like a vision board or a craft like wreath making; it can be playtime in the yard with the kids; reading; cooking; journaling; gardening (my personal favorite); yoga (my second personal favorite); or just calling a friend.

It doesn’t matter what you do…happiness is personal and unique to each of us!

I will give you an example of what has already brought me so much happiness today and it’s only 8:37am –

  • I woke up healthy – so grateful!
  • Enjoyed a hot cup of my favorite coffee (Marley coffee)
  • Walked outside in my gardens to check out what plants/bulbs have started to come up
  • Received a morning text from my boyfriend (best way to start my morning)

Remember, life is simple and happiness comes from simplicity. It doesn’t take much to make an internally content person happy.
